Preservation Projects

REVOLUTIONARY WAR:   In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the start of the Revolution in 1776, HSM documented the service of 40 Revolutionary War veterans who lived in Middletown after the war.

In addition to holding talks, workshops, panel discussions, tours and other programs on local and regional history, HSM has actively worked to preserve and promote the town’s heritage through a variety of special projects. These have included:

  • Preserving the Catskill Mountain News and making it available online
  • Inventorying headstones in several cemeteries and restoring others
  • Recording the stories and memories of area elders

We always need volunteers – please consider joining us in whatever capacity suits your interests and capabilities!
